The relationship between pharmaceutical industry and physicians is a controversial one. This is because whenever money and ethics clash, there are conflicting interests. Pharmaceutical companies operate in a world of high stakes with potentially high returns of their investments. Recouping the money they have invested in drug research and development means using marketing techniques that will ensure increased sales. In addition there are drug launches in foreign locations, conferences sponsorships and funding of private functions. Many companies do this under the guise of 'academic' activities. However, traditional practices that have been known throughout the world for thousands of years and approved in science, can be a major area of health care.Complementary and alternative medicine is the best example of this, but many drug manufacturers that have no curative effect today are the biggest obstacle in front of them. Because drug sales are directly negatively affected and their profits will decrease. 

On the other hand, alternative medicine is distinct from complementary medicine which is meant to accompany, not to replace, standard medical practices and popular because it is often helpful and cost effective. Treatments such as apitherapy, acupuncture, massage, osteopathy, and nutritional therapy can offer significant positive results quickly. Attitudes and practice concerning complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) are currently an area of considerable importance. However, little is known about the overall importance of CAM in groups of health care professionals and there is no any curriculum in the university of EU's at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of apitherapy practices which is well known for thousands of years. It is recommended as an elective course only in some universities of Poland.

But we know very well that the curriculum development is defined as planned, purposeful, progressive, and systematic process in order to create positive improvements in the educational system and every time there are changes or developments happening around the world, the school curricula are affected. There is a need to update them in order to address the society’s needs. If universities have curricular programs that are innovative and in demand in the local or global markets, many students even from foreign countries will enroll. Higher number of enrollees would mean income on the part of the universities and an effective curriculum provides teachers, students, administrators and community stakeholders with a measurable plan and structure for delivering a quality education.

To ensure successful implementation of new initiatives it is necessary to support and upgrade the significant role of teaching staff within higher education institutions (senior academics and junior academics). Academics and their aptitudes in teaching are an essential factor for fruitful application of reforms in higher education such as those focusing on the use of learning outcomes, recognition of prior learning, employability and curriculum design, introduction of new IT technologies.

Apitherapy may be one of the oldest terapi application around; its origins trace back to ancient Greece, Egypt,China and scientific research show that bee products may help manage autoimmune diseases, cancer, Alzheimer’s, HPV, Lyme Disease, multiple sclerosis, and arthritis and bacteria in bee stomachs could even act as alternatives to antibiotics

But today, none of the European Union universities have an apitherapy curriculum at master and doctoral grades. Including Faculties of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biology, Pharmacy and Agriculture (Entomology). Be(e) therapy project addresses the key innovations highlighted in the communication adapted by the EU comission in September, 2013, which are also inevitable conditions for modernization of higher education, curriculum designing, open educational resources, technology enhanced learning and virtual and blended mobility forms. The aims of this project is to;

  • Develop an innovative guide and competitive curriculum
  • E-learning course for university teachers and master students

Project objectives provides to the stakeholders;

  • Harmonizing the higher educational offerings with existing local resources,
  • Apitherapy curricula developing in TR, PL, SK and LT teach its students all methods necessary in order to apply apitherapy with good results,
  • Teach its students how they can build their own apitherapy data bases, and their own apitherapy libraries,
  • Prepare the “ground” for future Apitherapy clinics or offices and local (national) further Apitherapy Course,
  • Applied training during the master program,
  • The planning joint master degree programs with EU partner universities,
  • Promoting environmental awareness through the education and teachers and students training,
  • Disseminating the results to the stakeholders and public of the region around Europe,
